The Iron Neck may look a bit peculiar to some individuals, but you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. The fact of the matter is that the neck is often neglected when it comes to strength training. This lack of strength can produce a host of postural and movement-based patterns that can lead to dysfunction and pain.
The Iron Neck is able to solve many of these issues by providing multi-planar strengthening of the neck, which can be hard to otherwise perform (there are other ways though, such as with Theraband). Depending on the model, you can perform various types of exercises, including isometric movements.
This device can benefit those who are looking to prevent neck pain or neck injuries, and those who are looking to recover from neck pain or injuries; however, if you fall into the latter category, please consider getting a qualified healthcare practitioner to take a look at your neck to help you better understand what might be going on.
Necks can be finicky, so I will always advocate for an individual experiencing neck pain to get an appropriate medical evaluation from a qualified healthcare practitioner before undertaking neck strengthening exercises, particularly if you do not know what is causing your pain or your are prone to experiencing high levels of neck pain.
When it is appropriate to use, the Iron Neck can make profound differences for neck rehabilitation. I’ve had numerous patients over the last year who have made remarkable progress or full recovery of their neck issue(s), saving them from higher level interventions such as cortisone and PRP injections.
